The Miss Winona Scholarship Program has announced its 2012 contestant recruitment campaign inviting all eligible young women to apply for participation in the September 13, 2012 competition.
Miss Winona contestants will have the opportunity to gain poise, self confidence, display their talents and voice their opinions as well as develop professional networking opportunities, enjoy new experiences and, if crowned Miss Winona, become an ambassador for the City of Winona.
As a preliminary competition to the Miss Minnesota and Miss America competitions respectively, participants must be between the ages of 17-24 years of age on or before December 31, 2012, a proven US citizen and meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.
Additionally, all eligible contestants must be in reasonably good health, a resident, student or employee in the Winona area and must be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities of Miss Winona 2012.
Educational scholarships will be awarded to Miss Winona 2012, the First Runner-up and the contestant nominated by her peers to have the most spirit. All contestants will complete four phases of competition including interview, talent, swimsuit and evening wear.

A non-profit organization established in 1946, the Miss Winona Scholarship Program is the longest running local Miss America pageant in the state of Minnesota and a preliminary competition to Miss Minnesota Program. The Miss Winona Scholarship Program has given away more than $126,000 in scholarships over past 25 years with seven Miss Winonas advancing on to win the title of Miss Minnesota. The organization was created solely to provide young women with the opportunity to enhance their professional and educational goals with the assistance of monetary grants and awards.
