The Winona County Sherriff’s Office responded to a report of an asphalt scam Monday in the Nodine area.
A company called “Asphalt Paving” out of Wisconsin used an inferior product to pave areas of a residence, some without permission.
It was reported that the company said they had extra asphalt and offered to pave the complainant’s residence at 1/3 the normal price. The full price of the paving job would cost about $4,500 but Asphalt Paving attempted to charge $6,500.
The paving crew fled the scene after the complainant refused to pay and threatened to call the police.
Officers are investigating a possible second asphalt scam.
