Lilla, Harold J. (05/23/2012)
Harold J. Lilla, age 79, of Winona, Minn., died on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the Red Wing Health Care Center in Red Wing, Minn.

Harold was born on November 8, 1932, in Winona, Minn., to Frank and Emeline (Pellowski) Lilla. On September 25, 1954, he was united in marriage with Dorothy Wener at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, Wis.

For 35 years, Harold was employed by Peerless Chain Company until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka and the International Association of Machinists.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Bailey. Harold loved fishing and spending time on the river, and he also spent many years helping his father and brother at their appliance store.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lilla, Winona, Minn.; children, Michael (Cheri) Lilla, Eagan, Minn., Douglas (Ann) Lilla, Seattle, Wash., Brian (Kim) Lilla, Bowling Green, Ky., and Lori (Mike) Johnson, Plainview, Minn.; grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa), Katie, Ben, Nick, Lukas, Sarah, Clay, and Ellis; great-grandchildren, Allondra, Connor and Parker; brothers, Melvin (Millie) Lilla and Richard (Carol) Lilla; sisters, Bernell (Tom) Brill and Nancy (Don) Wille; sister-in-law, Bette Weinmann; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; and infant sister, Mary Louise.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Very Reverend Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Harold will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. There will not be any visitation held on Friday – please meet at the Basilica for Mass.
