Helen J. Koscianski, age 98, of Winona, Minn., died on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Lake Winona Manor.
Helen was born on February 6, 1914, in Tompkinsville, NY. In June of 1916, she rode the Orphan Train to Winona and lived with John and Helen Klonowski. On June 19, 1937, she was united in marriage with Erwin L. Koscianski; he preceded her in death on December 12, 1996.
She was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka and its St. Jude’s Guild and Rosary Society, the Winona Arts Center, and the Degree of Pochantas. Helen enjoyed selling poppies for the American Legion Auxiliary, singing with the Golden Melodians Group, volunteering at Lake Winona Manor, painting and dancing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her children, Mary (Bill) Blank, Bob (Mildred) Koscianski, John (Jackie) Koscianski, Joe (Laurie) Koscianski, David (Vicki) Koscianski, Joan (Jerry) Prochaska, Jim Koscianski and Betty (Jeff) Kolb; grandchildren, Mike (Shelly) Blank, Chris Blank, Lisa (John) Voight, Tom (Leah) Koscianski, Tina (Terry) Full, Kristi (Bryan) Gess, Amy (Gene) Gores, Molly Koscianski, Mark (Lena) Humphries, Becky Prochaska, Travis (Jennifer) Foster, Clayton Kolb, Logan Kolb, Garrett Kolb, Dylan Koscianski and Cassie Koscianski; great-grandchildren, Amanda (Paul) Ciszak, Kelly (Eric) Blank, Sam Blank, Bryant Koscianski, Julia Koscianski, Charlie Koscianski, Hayden Full, Carter Full, Brenden Full, Ashlyn Full, Ethan Gess, Tyler Gess, Jared Gores, Cayden Gores, Cecilia Gores, Rose Humphries, Devin Foster, Deja Foster, Lola Foster and Santiago Koscianski; great-great-grandchildren, McKenzie Moger, Mason Johnson and Jack Ciszak; nieces, Phyllis, Doris, Helen and Susie; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant daughter, Jean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Very Reverend Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.
Helen will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, on Saturday, May 26, 2012, from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Pallbearers will be Helen’s grandchildren.
