June 7
The next meeting of the Hiawatha Valley Marines will be held at the Winona Area Veteran’s Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 7. All Marines and Corpsmen who served with the USMC are urged to attend. Subjects at this meeting will include finalization of the flag give away and donation effort in support of the Winona Area Veteran’s Memorial Park, involvement in the Elks, Flag Day program, and participation in the Steamboat Days Parade.
Cathedral’s Young At Heart group will meet on June 7, starting with a 12:10 p.m. Mass for those who wish to attend. It will be followed by a lunch at 12:45 p.m. of sloppy joes on a bun, baked beans, potato salad, relish tray with Ranch dip, strawberry shortcake and Cool Whip and a beverage. The cost of the meal is $3.00. After lunch we will be treated to a program on Fire and Home Safety by Assistant Fire Chief Bob Multhaup. RESERVATIONS are a MUST and NONE WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE. The DEADLINE for reservations is June 4. The monthly meeting of the Minnesota City Historical Association will be on Saturday, June 9, at the archives at the historic First Baptist Church, 140 Mill Street in Minnesota City. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public. The agenda includes updates on the events scheduled for September 15, as part of the delayed Minnesota City Day. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will meet on Monday, June 11, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for Mass at 5:15 p.m. which will include the installation of new officers. A catered dinner will follow in the church basement. A meeting will be held to discuss the Salad Luncheon to be held on June 13, and any other business.

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at the Ag Service Center in Lewiston. (Note time change).

The Whitewater Joint Powers Board will meet on Thursday, June 14, at 8:30 a.m. in the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Hwy 74, Altura.
June 18
June 2012 monthly board meeting for the Stockton, Rollingstone, Minnesota City Watershed District to be held June 18, at 8:00 p.m. at the Stockton Community Center, 600 D street, Stockton.
June 20
Harvest House, a non-profit, non-denominational organization for 50 and getting better, will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, June 20, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus hall. Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting followed by our picnic. Bingo will be played. Bring an unwrapped prize for bingo and a non-perishable food item for a needy family. Lunch will be served. Sign up sheets for Fanny Hill “Star Spangled Girl” Sept. 27 and Chanhassen “Bye Bye Birdie” Oct. 24. Non-members are welcome on our trips.
