The Great River Shakespeare Festival (GRSF) presents All’s Well That Ends Well, July 24 through August 3 and As You Like It, on Friday, August 3, in the Winona State University Performing Arts Center.
All’s Well That Ends Well runs July 24th through August 3rd and is performed by the company’s 2012 acting apprentices and interns. College students and young professionals from around the country will participate in the program and apply what they learn from professional actors in the GRSF company to the performances. The show is a comedy about young love put to the test of time and is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $15 and are general admission for each performance.
As You Like It is presented as the 2012 Shakespeare for Young Actors 2 Project. The program is a hands-on, intensive workshop for students in grades 10-12 led by GRSF company members to introduce young actors to the principles of acting in Shakespearean productions. Students who participate in Shakespeare for Young Actors 2 learn acting techniques and text analysis of Shakespeare’s plays, along with a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create a professional production. The performance, held on August 3rd at 1:00 PM, is a comedy full of disguises and follies appropriate for all ages. Tickets are free, seating is reserved. The Shakespeare for Young Actors 1 program, for students in grades 6-10, will present a public performance to culminate their program on Wednesday July 18th, at 7:30 PM at the WSU Performing Arts Center.
