What better way to kick off summer than spending time outside with your children? This May, Winona Archers started their summer archery season by inviting all children from around the area to learn about archery safety, enjoy the outdoors and have the opportunity to shoot every week for five weeks - all for free! Starting in the beginning of May, 49 youth between the ages of six and seventeen took advantage of this wonderful opportunity! Youth shooters received help from Winona Archers members on how to shoot archery using one of the many bows donated. Shooters were led around the course in small groups and were given shooting and safety tips while completing a course of either spot or animal targets each week. This exciting adventure was completed in the beginning of June with a fun night that included shooting at balloons, as well as free root beer floats. Fun was had by all during Youth League - kids, parents, and Winona Archers members alike.
The Winona Archers would like to give a special thanks to the donors that helped make this possible. This event would not have been possible without these donors - thank you! A thank you also goes to the members who volunteered their time as well as the families who took part. The Winona Archers love to spread their enthusiasm and love of archery to all ages, and without the donors, members, and families participating, this opportunity would not have been possible for the youth. Thank you all.
If you know a child who loves the outdoors and experiencing new things, get them signed up for this rare, FREE opportunity. If you are interested in participating next year please contact the Winona Archers at winonaarchers@yahoo.com.
