Googins, Steve (07/04/2012)
Steve Lowell Googins, 64, of Winona, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Winona Health.

Steve was born August 6, 1947, in Winona, to Russell and Mamie (Bublitz) Googins. He was raised in Winona and attended Southeast Technical College. On March 18, 1967, Steve was married to Sharon Schmitt. He was later united in marriage to Bonnie Pelowski, on August 1, 1981, in Burbank, Calif.

Before retiring in 2005, he helped construct many buildings from Winona to Rochester. Some of his proudest projects were the levee in the 1980s, the library at WSU, and the Gonda building in Rochester.

Steve loved fishing on the river with a cane pole, sunflowers, greenery, spending time with his friends, and most of all his dogs. He will be missed by many.

Steve is survived by his first wife, Sharon Googins; children, Stephanie (Jeremy) Berg, Staci Googins, Shannon (Elliott) Norwood; current wife, Bonnie Googins; children, Jeremiah (Alanna) Pelowski, Sarah Googins, Samantha Googins; grandchildren, Violet, Trisha, Savannah, Lewis, Ebony, James, Constance, Sabrina, Elliott, Malcolm, Iysis, Eliyana and Tristan; sisters, Betty (Bill) Rumpca, Beverly (Gerald) McNally, Bonnie (Doyle) Wait; brother, Robert (Elsie) Googins; sister-in-law, Rosie Googins; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fredrick and Harley Googins; sister, Grace Hartwick.

A potluck-style Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, from 3-8 p.m. at Prairie Island Park in the Kiwanis Pavilion. Friends and family are invited to stay for lunch, share memories of Steve, and listen to some of his favorite music. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.

Please share a memory of Steve and view his video tribute at www.hofffuneral.com.
