From: Mary Zimmerman
Dear family, friends, and the world:
I know you canít see me or hear me, but I am so very close to you, the veil between us is very thin. I watch the world and all its doings. I am quite sad at times about it. I am aware that Jesus and His dear Mother Mary shed tears as they witness the crime and evils of this world. Jesus sends His Mother around the world begging for mankind to convert and find their way back to God. He is the way, the truth and the life and Mary is always pointing the way to her Son.
If you could only hear me speak Iíd say to my siblings and everyone else, love and forgive one another, strive to decrease your level of pride...replace it with humility. I must remind you God will help you to do that if you remember to love Him with all your heart, soul and mind, then your neighbor as yourself, that leaves no room for hate or enemies. This will all count so much as you stand before the throne of God giving a report on your whole life. The grades on this report will determine where you will spend eternity. My review went quite well. I had my problems, thatís for sure, but Mom you taught me to seek Godís mercy for my faults and sins. I died having a great love for God and all people young and old, most especially my family.
Thanks for your letter, Mom. Iím sorry you experienced such sadness when I left you so abruptly. You know Iíd never do anything to break your heart. God gave me to you and Dad but in His wisdom called me back to himself July 6, 1976.
Mom, Iím so proud of you and Dad. How you pray together now that Dad finally retired. Oh, how I loved riding along in the truck with him.
Mom, I know how hard you are trying to help save souls by writing articles. The Holy Spirit will always guide your words as long as you humbly admit He is the one that gives them to you.
Oh, by the way, happy 60th wedding anniversary. Thanks for the Mass you had offered that day for Uncle Jim and me. We spend a lot of time together now, with all my siblings as well. Remember the anniversary card I gave you a month before I left? Saying youíve been the best parents anyone could have.
Hey, I had a big smile on my face when I heard Donnie and Heather named their little son after me. Now I am his godfather in heaven but he needs someone on earth as well. Eli too.
Don, you and Lynette were so young when I left. Don, I saw you crying your heart out at the wake. I put my arms around you and whispered, itís okay.
Kathy, Theresa, Diane and Lynette, you were great sisters. Hey, brother Gene, remember when you were a little low on cash and I bought you a new pair of boots? Even God smiled for that. He records our kind deeds. Our sins He remembers no more if we repent of them.
Mom, I will close for now. Hello to Dad, all my siblings, nieces, nephews, and all my relatives and friends. Just keep the faith. Donít get entrapped by the evils of the world and weíll all meet up again someday. Heaven is great.
All my love, your son, brother, uncle and friend Duane.
P.S. Iím praying for you all
