Marion W. Bagniewski, age 93, of Winona, Minnesota, and formerly of Fountain City, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona.
Marion Wilma was born September 27, 1918, to Jacob and Paulina (Fink) Pape in Fountain City. Growing up she attended school through the eighth grade.
On May 28, 1942, she was united in marriage to Alois Bagniewski at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fountain City. This union was blessed with three children: Kathleen, Rodney and Della.
Marion and Alois understood the importance of hard and dedicated work. They began farming together with very little to start, but were able to watch their work grow to great success because of their notable work ethic. Marion especially enjoyed taking care of the chickens on the farm. She had a knack for gardening and was known as being an exceptional cook, and never let anyone go hungry. Marion found great joy in entertaining, whether it be a single visitor, neighborhood get-togethers or family gatherings. Marion was very proud of her family and their accomplishments; she continuously checked the local newspapers for her grandchildren’s accomplishments on making the honor roll. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Kathleen Northrup of Goodview, Minnesota; Rodney (Karen) Bagniewski of Fountain City, Wisconsin; and Della (Randall) Sherman of Washington, lllinois; grandchildren: Brenda (Mark) Edwards; Janet (Charles) Devine; Barbara (Jeff) Corey; Peggy (Pete) Vanderwerf; Julie (Darrin) Brand; Todd (Lori) Bagniewski; Tracy (Dan) Terek; Amy (Lyle) Carpenter; Matt (fiancé Megan) Bagniewski; Jennifer (Christopher) Crutchfield; Katie Fiorelli; Christine (Martin) Manning; Mark (Sarra) Sherman; and Yvette Sherman; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren; other extended family and many friends.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband on March 25, 2001; her parents; two brothers; and two sons-in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fountain City, Wisconsin, with Revered Brian J. Jazdzewski officiating. Visitation will take place 4-7:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fountain City with a vigil service at 4:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fountain City.
Casket bearers will be Todd Bagniewski, Matt Bagniewski, Dan Terek, Charles Devine, Christopher Crutchfield and Jeff Corey. Honorary casket bearers will be Inez Pelley, Mary Anne Senn and Frieda Kamrowski.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Lake Winona Manor.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Lake Winona Manor and Winona Health, Dr. Shepard and the many friends that offered their care and support to Marion over the past several years.
