Songs of Hope, an award-winning international youth concert featuring young people from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and South and North America, will be performing on Saturday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on the corner of Broadway and Johnson.
This performance for all ages features singing, instrumental music and dance, including reggae, rock, jazz, blues, second line and folk music from a dozen countries. Free will donations will be accepted at the door.
On the following day, Sunday, July 22, at 10 a.m., the Songs of Hope youth will be sharing three pieces of music at an interfaith worship service that will include individuals from different world religious traditions participating in readings, prayers and other parts of the service. All are welcome.
When a young Minnesota man with family from Dubai offered to introduce the organizers of Second Hope to the people behind the Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project, Minneapolis, and the humanitarian Muslim Peacemaker Teams in Iraq, they jumped at the chance, and the international Songs of Hope project features five young performers from Iraq on stage this summer.
