Saturday, August 25: Cardboard Arcade
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. building, 3-5 p.m. playing
Children’s museums are places away from work and household distractions, where parents and caregivers can spend quality time with children, learn something new themselves and experience the luxury of becoming lost in the present moment as they play. The Children’s Museum of La Crosse will be offering quarterly Imagine-Nation programs to promote simple, open-ended creative play for children and families. Each session will have a theme, and allow the participants to be creative, with simple supplies and their limitless imaginations.
Watch the Caine’s Arcade video (www.cainesarcade.com) for inspiration and then come to the Museum on Saturday, August 25 to help build and/or play our own cardboard arcade games (for fun; no prizes). We’ll be showing the video here too. Try creating a game at home and share a photo on www.facebook.com/funmuseum and/or bring it to the Museum on August 25 to share with others.
The day’s events are FREE with Museum admission. Donations of boxes, tape, new or gently used small novelty items to be used as prizes, and other supplies are welcome, before the event or that morning. We’re also looking for donations of clean, new or gently-used Legos and Duplos for a future Imagine-Nation event.
