At 10:57 a.m. deputies responded to an accident on First Street in Altura. Adam Wayne Navitskas, 33, of Rochester, was driving a Mack truck, registered to Veolia Environmental Services, down First Street when he sideswiped a parked vehicle. There were no injuries or citations given. Estimated cost of the damage is more than $1,000.
Monday, July 23
At 8:28 p.m. police ticketed a 15-year-old girl from Winona for shoplifting at Walmart after she allegedly stole a compression bandage valued at $16.96.
Thursday, July 26
At 9:17 a.m. police ticketed Patrick William Dienger, 54, of Winona, for inattentive driving after he rear-ended Robert Dewayne Brewer, 65, of Winona, at the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 43. Dienger and Brewer were both in the merging lane on Highway 43 to enter northbound Highway 61 when Dienger said he became distracted by an accident that had just occurred at the intersection, and rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. No injuries were reported.
At 11:23 p.m. police ticketed a 17-year-old male from La Crosse for minor consumption of alcohol at a house party in the 200 block of West Seventh Street. Police also ticketed Jordan Owen Welshons, 19, of Winona, for minor consumption of alcohol and social host violation. Welshons told police he did not supply the alcohol but did open his home for the party.
Friday, July 27
At 2:09 a.m. a Winona resident reported hearing glass being broken and then seeing an unidentified male running near the corner of Ninth and Franklin streets. The resident found the windshield of a neighbor’s gray Dodge Durango smashed and a 5 lb. dumbbell near the scene.
At 4:18 a.m. an adult female in the 800 block of West Ninth Street reported an unknown male standing in her kitchen. The woman said he did not take anything.
