Museums are often places where communities and families bond through meaningful experiences. On Saturday, August 4th from 1 - 2:30pm, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum will host a special program for Museum family members with children called Summer Family Studio.
The program will begin with an interactive and family-friendly tour of the MMAM’s Impressionist paintings. After having a chance to discuss and observe the techniques of the Impressionists, the group will move into the Museum’s education room and experiment with acrylic paint and canvas to create their own Impressionistic work of art. Summer Family Studio is appropriate for all ages and families will work together to create their painting.
About this opportunity, MMAM Curator of Education Heather Casper states, “I love working with all of the amazing families that come to the Museum, and this is a special opportunity to thank those who help support the Museum. It’s a fun afternoon of exploring, laughing, and art-making.”
Space is limited to 25 people total and sign-up is required by calling the Museum at (507) 474-6626. Family memberships to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum are only $70 annually and provide admission for two adults and any members of the household under 18 for one year, as well as many other perks including invitations to special events, 10% off in the MMAM Store, $5 off a membership at the Children’s Museum of La Crosse, and more.
