Saturday, August 4
At 7:42 a.m. Jim Mauer, owner of Mauer Brothers Tavern in Elba, Minn., reported a burglary at the tavern. Mauer reported missing a lockbox, till, raffle bucket, and tip jar full of cash. Deputies did not find a point of forced entry. Estimated cost of stolen money is $3,150.
Sunday, August 5
At 1:58 p.m. deputies ticketed Justin Carl Rech, 23, of New Prague, Minn., for careless driving and expired registration after he crashed his vehicle into an embankment. According to the incident report, Rech was traveling 50 miles per hour around a corner on Prairie Island Road when he hit the gravel shoulder and crashed into the embankment. He was transported to the hospital via Winona Area Ambulance.
Monday, August 6
At 4:15 p.m. deputies were called to 27277 County Road 25 in Wyattville, Minn., to investigate a possible breaking and entering violation. Deputies cleared the residence and found no suspects. A broken living room window was discovered and deputies said a lamp was used to break it from the inside. Deputies do have a suspect in mind but aren’t releasing details. The incident is still under investigation.

Thursday, August 2
At 4:42 p.m. police ticketed Timothy Robert Larson, 36, of Fountain City, Wis., for shoplifting at Shopko after he allegedly stole a solar phone charger valued at $39.99.
Friday, August 3
At 11 p.m. police arrested Ivan Nathaniel Irons, 30, of Winona, for fourth degree driving while intoxicated and open bottle. Police stopped him near Broadway and Ewing streets. According to the report, Irons drove over a cement slab, causing his car to leak fluid. Police followed the trail of oil and found Irons pushing his car.
Monday, August 6
At 12:59 a.m. police arrested Derek James Dulek, 25, of Winona, for second degree driving while intoxicated, refusal to test and leaving the scene of an accident at Third and Market streets. According to the police report, Dulek crashed into several cars along the road before officers stopped him near St. Charles Street. Dulek is being referred to the city attorney’s office.
