Clifford P. Murray, age 59, of Winona, Minnesota, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at Winona Health in Winona after a short battle with cancer.
Clifford Paul was born September 10, 1952, to Clifford A. and Muriel (Pike) Murray in Winona. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1970. On April 6, 1991, he married Shelia Homola in Winona.
Cliff was employed at the Winona Housing and Redevelopment Authority for 17 years. Previously he was a self-employed carpenter and worked for the Carpenters Union. Cliff and Sheila have owned the B-Kleen Laundromat in Winona for 17 years. Cliff served as a member of the National Guard and was a member of the Winona History Center and the Redmen’s Club.
Cliff and Shelia opened their home and hearts to their niece, Megan, and nephew, Matt, after the death of Cliff’s brother Jim. Cliff had a great respect for nature and loved being outdoors. He took pride in caring for his large yard flowerbeds and landscaping. He was a gifted carpenter and could repair almost anything. Cliff had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dogs, Abby and Clyde. He was a very likable and fun-loving person, and enjoyed his time spent with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sheila Murray of Winona, Minnesota; brothers: Bruce (Joanne) Murray of Rochester, Minnesota; Duane (Ann) Murray of Livingston, Texas; Tom (Colene) Murray of La Crosse, Wisconsin; and Philip (Carol) Murray of Needham, Massachusetts; 15 nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Vi Benicke of Stockton, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Ralph (Peggy) Benicke of Plymouth, Minnesota; his dogs: Abby and Clyde; other extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Murray; father-in-law, Ralph Benicke; brother-in-law, Steve Homola; and sister-in-law, Sandra Homola.
Memorial Mass will be Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona, Minnesota, with Reverend James Berning presiding. Visitation will be in the church Visitation Commons prior to the service starting 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being arranged in Cliff’s honor.
