On Sunday, August 19th, at 1:00 pm, Wings Over Alma Nature & Art Center will host Kenny Salwey, the Last River Rat and Alma’s master storyteller, as he shares stories about life on the backwaters of the Upper Mississippi River.
There are few opportunities to meet Kenny in a more personal way. Kenny Salwey is the author of several books documenting his life, living and working along side the Mississippi River. He grew up in Buffalo County, Wisconsin learning the ways of the old-time river rats. A born storyteller, Kenny inherited the ability to spin a tale from his maternal grandmother. His stories pursue runaway steers through the river bottoms, battling a wary old trout, and his relationships with his dogs and the environment around him. Event is free and open to the public, seating is limited so plan to arrive early.
