Connor James Flynn, aged 14 days, died in his parents’ loving arms on August 10, 2012. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. After fighting hard for his survival, Connor James succumbed to a bowel infection and went peacefully to his eternal playground.
Connor is the son of Maureen and Tim Flynn of Winona. He is their miracle child; the baby they did not think they could have. His birth was greatly anticipated by his entire family. During his short life, Connor displayed a tremendous amount of strength and resiliency. He enjoyed laying on his tummy, listening to stories, holding fingers, and being held. His courageous life has left an indelible mark on those whose lives he touched.
Those left to cherish Connor’s memory include his parents, Maureen and Tim Flynn of Winona, Minnesota; big brothers Andrew Denzer of Winona, Minnesota and Nathan Denzer at home; grandparents Shareen Halvorson of Springfield, Minnesota; Donald Steffen of Sanborn, Minnesota; Jane and Don Anderson of Minnesota City, Minnesota; and Catherine Cleary and Gary Flynn of Winona, Minnesota; aunts and uncles Matthew (Chris) Steffen of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; Colleen Haag of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; James (Marie) Steffen of Doylestown, Wisconsin; Janeen (Robert) Oien of Springfield, Oregon; Laureen (Scott) Boutang of Crystal, Minnesota; Christy (Brad) Ronnenberg of Rushford, Minnesota; Michael Flynn of Winona, Minnesota, and many cousins and extended family members.
Connor was preceded in death by his aunt, Kathleen Steffen.
Services to celebrate Connor’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, with Rev. Mark Dumke officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery, Minnesota City.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona.
Pallbearers will be Connor’s brothers, Nathan and Andrew Denzer. Honorary pallbearer is Connor’s godmother, Jessica Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in Connor’s name be made to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mayo Clinic: St. Mary’s Hospital C/O Mary Brigh 3B, 1216 2nd Street SW, Rochester, Minn., 55902.
