On Sunday, September 9, at 3:54 a.m. the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department responded to S291 S. Main Street in the Village of Nelson, Buffalo County, Wis., for a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.
Upon arrival it was learned that Lucas N. Makescoldweather, 30, of Nelson, Wis., was operating a 1992 Chevy Silverado K2500 truck in a private residential driveway when he drove over a 32-year-old Mondovi, Wis., woman.
While operating the truck, Lucas backed into a parked car before putting the truck into drive, accelerated rapidly, and ran over the woman,. After running over her, Lucas proceeded to drive into a garage near the residence.
The woman was transported by Mayo One helicopter for possible life-threatening injuries. Lucas was arrested at the scene and is being held in the Buffalo County Jail on criminal charges.
Alcohol was involved and this incident remains under investigation.
