The MN League of Women Voters(LWV) – Winona Unit is providing the voters in the Winona Area informational meetings and candidate forums.
They are:
Informational Meeting: Not Televised
September 18 Winona Area Public Schools – Districts 3,4 & 5 – Meet the Candidates and
Know your Polling Location – Not televised. The public is invited to meet the candidates who can attend.
General Election Voter Services Forums: All Televised Public Access Channels (HBCI & Charter) –
Most candidates confirmed. Public participation moderated by LWV.
September 19 City of Winona – Mayor, 1st & 3rd Ward
September 26 Winona County – Districts 3 & 4
October 3 Legislative - House 21B & Senate 21
October 16 Legislative – House 28A & Senate 28
October 24 Winona County Soil & Water Conservation District – Districts 1,3, & 5

Location: Winona City Hall, Council Chambers – Second Floor, 207 Lafayette Street, Winona, MN 55987
Time: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm – Live Cable TV Public Access Channels (HBCI & Charter) for the Candidate Forums.
The forums will be moderated by the LWV. At this time most of the candidates are confirmed to attend these forums.
Cosponsors: AAUW, WSU American Democracy Project, Women’s Resource Center of Winona and Winona On-line Democracy.
The public is invited to come and participate by writing questions to be selected for the candidates. The LWV- Winona Unit will provide Voter Services on how to register to vote and locations of polling places. The State of Minnesota has completed its mandatory redistricting for representative governance areas and will be in effect for the General election. Local maps will shared at the “Meet and Greet” School Board event on September 18.
We encourage all citizens age 18 and older to exercise their right to vote November 6th. 2012 General election. The polls are open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
If you need an absentee ballot or to register as a Voter, please contact the Winona County Auditor- Treasure’s Office for this information. The Minnesota Secretary of State website also provides basic information for you. The mission of the LWV is to encourage citizens to be active in our democracy. We look forward to seeing the candidates and the public at the Voter Service Forums for the Winona area.
