The League of Women Voters will hold several candidate forums and informational meetings in the coming weeks. The first will introduce voters to candidates vying for three seats on the District 861 School Board.
Candidates for the Winona Area Public School Board will be introduced at a gathering, not a debate-style forum, on Tuesday, September 18, at Winona City Hall at 7 p.m. The meeting will not be televised, but the public will have the chance to meet candidates (who are able to attend) for districts 3, 4 and 5, including: Kelly Wind and Brian Zeller, candidates in district 3; Jeanne Nelson, district 4; and Kenneth Kersting and Tina Lehnertz, both candidates in district 5.
On Wednesday, September 19, candidates for Winona Mayor and Winona City Council Wards 1 and 3 will face questions from the public during a debate, which will be televised on HBC and Charter public access channels. The forum will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and attendees may submit questions.
On September 26, Winona County Board candidates for districts 3 and 4 will also participate in a debate hosted by the League of Women Voters. On October 3 Legislative candidates for House 21B and Senate 21 seats will participate in a similar forum. On October 16, Legislative candidates for House 28A and Senate 28 will square off during another debate, and October 24 will feature a debate for Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District candidates.
