Illegally placed signs? (10/03/2012)
From: Tom Polachek
I’d like to ask whether it is legal for supporters or perhaps Greg Olson placing multiple campaign signs on a vehicle that is parked on the street overnight without a license plate? While I was in Winona I noted an industrial lawnmower (John Deere green and yellow) parked at Huff and Sixth as I noted above. There was also another similar lawnmower that was red on a trailer without a license plate on the trailer on Grand just north of Fifth Street. I’m guessing the person(s) who placed these mowers know the street legality of the machines because the John Deere mower gets moved around from day to day. I noticed it on Cummings and Gilmore one day then back to Huff and Broadway. If it is the incumbent Olson he should know that is illegal to place a non-street legal vehicle on the street. I should note I’m a St. Paul voter, so I’m just curious about this.
Ed. Note: A response is expected from the City of Winona as to the legality of this campaign practice.
