Stroke Therapy Support Group

NEW quarterly support group. Winona Health Speech Language Pathologist, Carol Meyer-Boldon, CCC, SLP will facilitate a quarterly support group for those who have had a stroke and are undergoing or have under gone rehabilitation. Individuals can ask questions, share tips with others who may be experiencing similar challenges, and talk with others who are living with or caring for a person who has had a stroke. Free Depression Screening

Common symptoms of depression include any of the following: • A persistent feeling of sadness • Loss of pleasure in usually enjoyable activities • Feeling of hopelessness, helplessness and worthlessness • Changes in sleep patterns and appetite • Loss of energy • Restlessness • Thoughts of death or suicide No appointment is necessary for this free and confidential screening. Preparing for Childbirth weekend class

Flu Shot Clinic

Healthcare providers recommend that all infants over six months, children and adults, including women who are pregnant, get a flu vaccine. Getting vaccinated not only helps protect you from the flu, it helps protect those you come in contact with. Vaccines will be administered as shots (no Flu Mist during Flu Shot Clinics). Staff will bill to insurance and/or Medicare for your convenience. Participants also have the option of a cash payment of $32. No appointment is necessary during the Flu Shot Clinics. Little Ones Remembered Outreach Group is focused on supporting families who have experienced a loss through miscarriage. Winona Health’s Occupational Health team invites area Human Resources and workplace safety professionals to RSVP for Breakfast with the Experts: Alcoholism in the Workplace.
Todd Hoffe, a licensed drug and alcohol counselor at Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) will discuss signs and symptoms of alcohol abuse in adults and specific techniques for addressing possible substance abuse by a coworker or employee. Todd also will provide information about the various programs that are available through HVMHC to assist with overcoming addiction, including the employee assistance program for evaluation and assessment of possible abuse or addiction. COPD Support Group

Winona Health respiratory therapist, Bob Elam, RT, facilitates this monthly support group for people dealing with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This support group offers an opportunity to ask questions, share tips with others who may be experiencing similar challenges and to talk with others who are caring for a person who has COPD. Prostate Cancer Screening $15

American Cancer Society guidelines recommend that men make an informed decision with their primary healthcare provider about whether to be tested for prostate cancer. $15 fee will be collected (cash or check accepted) at registration.
