Roy F. Hefte, age 96, of Winona, and formerly of Hayward and LaCrosse, Wisconsin, died Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona, Minnesota.
Roy was born March 30, 1916, in Taber, Alberta, Canada to Olaus and Marie (Haugstad) Hefte. He attended school and graduated from Spring Grove High School in Spring Grove, Iowa. Following his high school graduation, he attended Junior College in Waukon, Iowa and received his teachers training at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He also completed business courses in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
He worked at Trane Co. for 41 years before his retirement from working as the head of material control.
He was united in marriage to Gertrude Dravis on April 20, 1940; she preceded him in death on May 19, 1983. He was also married to Louise Saecker and she preceded him in death on January 14, 1997.
Roy enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.
He was the first person to move into Calista Court in Winona upon its completion.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Mark (Sondra Lee) Hefte of Monroe, Washington; grandchildren: David Hefte of Everett, Washington; and Krista Ulloa of Bothell, Washington; other extended family and many friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his son, Paul Hefte; parents; first wife, Gertrude; second wife, Louise; and his siblings: Olga, Alvin, and Vivian.
Services to remember Roy will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home in Winona, with Reverend Timothy Forester officiating. Interment will be Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
