According to signs urging Minnesotans to vote NO for the marriage amendment, we should not discriminate against marriage of same-sex couples. Tim Walz and the Editorial staff of the Winona Daily News agree. One argument used is that the Minnesota Constitution should not have the amendment because the law stating marriage is between a man and woman is already in the law.
If the marriage amendment is defeated, I expect there would be efforts to overturn that law so same-sex marriage would be the law in Minnesota. Because it happened in Canada, it could happen here. People have lost their jobs in Canada because they refused to accept same-sex marriage.
Another statement making the rounds is that our neighbors living a same-sex lifestyle would not affect us. On the contrary, this would have a detrimental effect on society. Children should be raised in a family of a mother and a father that teaches them God's Word. Otherwise, a same-sex lifestyle leads to confusion about which is the proper way to live.
Jesus said in Mark 10:6 that from the beginning of creation God made them male and female. Look what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah in the Old Testament. Some claim the Old Testament is outdated, but the New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old Testament. Christ and the Apostles many times quoted Old Testament scripture. The apostles also warned against such a lifestlye in the New Testament. Some ministers do not consider all of the Bible to be God's Word. They will leave out scripture, or change parts so they can satisfy their own beliefs.
People who have some unnatural tendencies to live a gay lifestyle should try to live the obedient way of life God requires, not the ways of an adulterous generation. We should obey God rather than man. We should encourage people with such tendencies to ask for God's help to curb their desires. He will not give them more troubles than they can bear. People have overcome such desires.
