Spray paint vandalism reported in the area (10/24/2012)
Several acts of vandalism took place Thursday evening that left Winona business owners and residents with spray paint covering their properties.

Winona Police Deputy Chief Tom Williams said four incidents of properties “tagged” with spray paint were reported to the law enforcement center Friday morning.

The first report was made just after 8:30 a.m. when a resident in the Valley Oaks neighborhood reported spray paint covering a booster station near the entrance to the neighborhood.

An hour later, an employee of Landscape Brands, a furniture manufacturing company on the 1100 block of East Sanborn Street, reported that two trailers and a company truck were spray painted with derogatory phrases.

Shortly after 10 a.m., a third caller reported that the Wincrest Water Tower on top of Garvin Heights was tagged with spray paint. Vandals spray painted racial slurs and symbols on the tower, nearby shed, electrical pump house and porta-potty.

A Miller Felpax Corporation employee reported the fourth incident of vandalism just before 10:15 a.m. and said one side of the building had spray paint marks on it.

The Winona Police Department is investigating the incidents but does not have any leads at this time.
