October 29
Winona Dakota Unity Alliance will meet for its Annual Membership Meeting on Monday, October 29, at the Winona History Center, Wanek Hall, 2nd Floor, 160 Johnson Street, Winona. Social gathering is at 6:30 p.m.; membership business meeting with announcement of new board members and advisory board members at 7:00 p.m.; the Dakota 38 documentary at 7:15 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.
October 30
The Lois Club will meet Tuesday, October 30, at 12:30 p.m. at the Country Kitchen.
The River Arts Alliance Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, October 30, at noon at the Home Federal conference room, 175 Center St. All interested persons are welcome to attend.
October 31
The regular monthly meeting of the Hiawatha Valley Education District Board of Directors is scheduled for Wednesday, October 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Hiawatha Valley Education District, 1410 Bundy Boulevard, Winona.
November 1
Cathedral’s Young At Heart will meet November 1, starting with 12:10 p.m. Mass for those who wish to attend. It will be followed with a lunch at 12:45 p.m. of turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, carrots, cranberries, roll, pumpkin pie, and beverage. Cost is $3.00. After lunch we will have memorial speaker Father Berning. Reservations are a must and none will be accepted after October 29. For reservations call Marge at 454-3433; let her know if you need a ride. All are welcome; we look forward to seeing you there.
The Minnesota City First Baptist Ladies Aid will meet Thursday, November 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Jean Gardner.
November 4
The Houston County Historical Society will hold their annual meeting Sunday, November 4, 1:30 p.m. at 404 East Main Street, Caledonia, Minn., in the sanctuary of the former Caledonia Presbyterian Church. Two directors will be elected and the year’s activities will be reviewed. The featured speaker is Denise Rostad, daughter of Mary Rostad.
November 8
The Whitewater Joint Powers Board will meet on Thursday, November 8, at 8:30 a.m. at the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Highway 74, Altura.
The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will feature a presentation by Bill Crozier entitled: “Winona Soldiers in the Civil War, with special emphasis upon Company K .” The meeting will be on Thursday, November 8, at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona. All are invited, and refreshments will be served.
