Robert Eugene “Pete” Grover, age 79, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Lake Winona Manor.
He was born on October 21, 1933, in La Crosse, Wis., to Phillip and Rosemae (White) Grover.
Pete was a graduate of Cotter High School, where he was a member of the Cotter basketball team that won the State Basketball Championship in 1952. The team was inducted into the Cotter High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.
He honorably served his country for four years with the United States Air Force, and was stationed at the Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas.
Pete was a graduate of Winona State University. He was then employed at Watkins, and for most of his career, he worked in the auto sales business.
The highlight of Pete’s life was his granddaughter, Alexis, whom he spent much time with, and they made many special memories together.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Pamela Grover and granddaughter, Alexis Grover, of Winona; sister: Patricia Metzger, Roseville, Minn., brother: Thomas (Patricia) Grover, La Crosse, Wis., several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Grover, and a dear “Aunt Dorothy” (White) Peck.
A private family funeral service was held.
Pete was laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery with full military honors.
