A few days ago someone opined that because our Constitution guarantees the rights to “life, liberty and happiness” homosexuals have the right to marry.
As a student of history I cannot believe our founding fathers ever thought that in some future time their document would be interpreted to permit such a thing.
These eighteenth century gentlemen would be shocked, insulted, and enraged to think the end product of their hard and careful work would be used to aid and abet the commission of buggery (an old word for sodomy).
In their day and age it was punishable by flogging in public.
It is only in recent times the punishment for sodomy has been done away with by “enlightened” judges and politicians.
Since the 1960s many people have become ill-mannered, uncivil, foul-mouthed and desensitized to behavior and lifestyles that would have been unthinkable in the 1950s.
It deeply saddens me to see how morally bankrupt our country has become in the last 40 or 50 years. Today in America Christians are discriminated against and treated with extreme prejudice to scare them into remaining silent. These attacks are not being made public by our liberal-controlled mass media.
I am not as devout a Christian as I should be, however I do believe the Holy Bible to be the true and inerrant word of God. I will vote in favor of the marriage amendment because I believe as a Christian I have a duty and obligation to do so.
