Thank you Bishop Quinn (11/04/2012)
From: Tim Palubicki

On behalf of all faithful Christians and Catholics, I would like to thank Bishop John Quinn and the other traditional churches that have supported the proposed Minnesota Marriage Amendment. Bishop Quinn, your efforts to uphold the historical and fundamental definition of marriage in the light of constant and virulent personal attacks against you and the Church are to be greatly applauded.

As the bishop of our Diocese, you have held firmly to the faith handed down to you by the apostles and by your brother bishops. Your courageous stance and faithfulness in upholding the truth has been a great inspiration and example for both faithful Catholics and the other Christian faiths that have not been swayed by the ever changing winds of mere human ideology which relentlessly tries to redefine both truth and morality.

I am reminded of St. Paul in Ephesians Chapter 4 exhorting the churches not to be “tossed by the waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery… in the interests of deceitful scheming.” And in the 2nd Letter to Timothy, Chapter 3, St. Paul seems to envision this age that we are now living in when he says “People will be self centered …hating what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, as they make a pretense of religion but deny its power. Reject them.”

Bishop Quinn, you have set a very good example for the Catholics in the Winona Diocese by holding firm to proclaiming the truth of our Christian faith even when it confronts the distorted reasoning that is now so prevalently expressed in the media.

I think that you need to know that you do not stand alone in your steadfastness in upholding the teaching of Christ and the truths handed down to us by the apostles. Many of our faithful Protestant friends support and uphold the family values that you expound, even though we differ theologically on other issues.

The secular media has been virulent and mean-spirited in its attacks on the Christian faith. For many decades the media has remained silent on the issue of abortion where the lives of innocent babies are brutally taken by violent killing procedures slyly hidden from public view in private abortion facilities. Sadly these facilities will receive federal funding for abortion under ‘Obamacare.’ Yet the media remains silent!

Now, this same media has decided to attack those churches which hold on to teachings on traditional marriage. The disparity of the media’s actions in regard to human life is revealing. They pretend to take the high ground on the gay marriage issue calling it a human right.

Abortive infanticide and gay marriage fail in the same ideal. Human life is allowed to be killed in the cruel practice of abortion. Now the procreative family of one man and one woman and the life that it generates is being denied as the backbone of all modern civilization.
