This campaign season has really been disgusting. Obviously Chicago-style politics has made it into the presidential election, where outright lies and demonization is the new standard of gutter campaigning. These lies, half-truths, and yellow journalism has caused a great cancer on our republic.
It has filtered down to our state level in Minnesota. Case in point, the Marriage Amendment to our state Constitution which we will be voting on November 6. This constitution amendment will define how the state of Minnesota will lawfully recognize a marriage. Because some people believe that marriage should include same sex couples, this has become very controversial. Some people think that same sex couples should be able to marry and be just as miserable as the rest of us. One positive of a same sex couple is that they are the only ones doing something about the overpopulation of the world. Another positive of a same sex marriage is that it eliminates one of the biggest issues that arises in a heterosexual marriage.
Every married man knows that shortly after the honeymoon the first crisis he will encounter in his marriage, which has been raging on for over 100 years, since the invention of indoor plumbing, is the bathroom dilemma. That being, toilet seat up - toilet seat down. In some marriages this controversy never gets resolved. But in a same sex marriage this will never be an issue!
The campaign signs I see in the yards supporting heterosexual marriage are less than truthful. Their slogan ‘Vote yes - marriage - one man - one woman’ is not totally true. Every married man knows that there is one more element in a marriage. For this group to omit it in their campaign slogan in order to gain votes is disgusting. The missing element in some marriages is very positive, and in other marriages very negative but in either case it is a definite element. For this very reason I would like to clarify this point so that on election day you will be able to vote knowing all the facts. The heterosexual marriage slogan should be stated as follows: ‘Vote yes, marriage, one man, one woman, one mother-in-law!’
