Joseph J. Mlynczak Jr., age 71, of Winona, Minn., died on Saturday, November 3, 2012.
Joseph was born on June 12, 1941, to Joseph “Dewey” and Florence (Golt) Mlynczak. He married Carol A. (Matejka) Mlynczak and had four children. They later divorced.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka and a 1959 graduate of Cotter High School. He honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1964 until 1966, where he was a member of the 551st MP Company stationed in Louisiana.
Before his retirement, he worked as a tool and die maker at Peerless Chain and Jetco Tool & Die. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, fishing, playing cards and trips to the casinos. Joseph was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and most of all enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by his children, Susan Mlynczak, Steven (Tracey) Mlynczak, Stacey (Jerome) Marg and Scott (Amber) Mlynczak, all of Winona, Minn., grandchildren, Tanner and Austin Mlynczak, Justin and Kayla Spalding, Brady Marg, and Colby, Clayton and Caroline Mlynczak; sister, Mary Jane Drussell, Winona, Minn., brother-in-law, Gale Doebbert, Winona, Minn. He is also survived by a longtime friend, Marie Rackow.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother-in-law and a nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Monsignor Roy E. Literski and the Reverend Paul J. Breza will concelebrate.
Joseph will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 will provide full military honors.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Thursday, November 8, 2012, from noon until 12:45 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Joe’s grandson, Justin Spalding and Joe’s good friends, Charles Loshek, Jack Keen, Terry Wineski, Wynn Steinfeldt and George Kuklinski. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Ives and his nephew, Mark Drussell.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
