Give to the Max Day Nov. 15 (11/08/2012)
United Way of the Greater Winona Area, along with several of its funded partners, are among the many nonprofit organizations throughout the state that will once again ask Minnesotans to display their record-breaking generosity by donating to their favorite charities and schools online at www.GiveMN.org during the fourth annual “Give to the Max Day” on Nov. 15.

“We are excited about the opportunity to give people a new and easy way to make a difference in our community,” said Beth Forkner Moe, Executive Director. “People can support a host of organizations and wonderful programs by supporting United Way during Give to the Max Day. Several of our partner agencies are also participating in the online event. Please considering either supporting us that day, or our partners. Either way, you can support these organizations. And by contributing to United Way, you not only support us and those partners, but other organizations that we work with.”

Money donated to United Way will directly benefit its mission of supporting our families in their efforts to raise healthy, thriving, productive children in our community.

United Way’s partners that are participating include Catholic Charities, Elder Network of Winona County, Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, Habitat for Humanity-Winona and Fillmore Counties, and Women’s Resource Center of Winona.

In September 2012, GiveMN launched “Schools on GiveMN,” allowing K-12 public schools to fundraise on the site, offering giving solutions for parents, friends and neighbors to support the genuine needs of schools and students without purchasing unnecessary products. And, during Give to the Max Day 2012, K-12 public schools will be eligible for prize grants in the form of hourly “Golden Tickets” worth $1,000 each, as well as one $10,000 Super-sized Golden Ticket to be drawn at the end of the event.

2012 Give to the Max Day Incentives

In 2012, GiveMN will offer several incentives to encourage donor participation in Give to the Max Day. Winona community members can support United Way and other local nonprofits and schools for an opportunity to win prize grants up to $12,500 as top donation earners. During Give to the Max Day 2012, United Way will be eligible for prize grants in the form of hourly “Golden Tickets” – an hourly drawing to add $1,000 to a donor’s donation, randomly selected from donors who gave during each hour of the event. One donor giving to a nonprofit and one donor to a K-12 public school will be drawn in the evening for a Super-sized Golden Ticket of $10,000 added to their donations.
