November 14 12:05 p.m. at the Winona County History Center
Walter Bennick, one of the WCHS archivists, and now author, will present images and stories from his book about Winona’s past through the “Images of America” series published by Arcadia Publishing. “Winona” is available at the Museum Shop and other book retailers. Through images collected and archived in the Winona County Historical Society, this new book illustrates the history of Winona with a sampling of this extensive collection. Many of the photographs presented in the book have rarely been seen by the general public and have never been published. Though not a native, Walt has lived a good share of his adult life in Winona. As a former teacher, he has explored many aspects of his adopted city and has appreciated what he has discovered.
Walt will present images from his research for the book and the stories behind them and will be available to sign copies following the program. The Food For Thought learning series takes place at the Winona County History Center. Lectures, Films and Book Chats begin at 12:05 p.m. and last approximately one hour (unless otherwise noted). Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch. Coffee is served. All are free and open to the public. Log onto www.winonahistory.org to learn more or call 507-454-2723.
