The Winona Brass Band, under the direction of Richard Lindner, will offer its Fall Concert on Sunday, November 18, at 2 PM at the St. Cecilia Theater at Cotter HS.
One of a small number of very powerful works for brass band, Hinemoa, tells the Maori legend of the love of a princess for her suitor and her great struggle to be at his side. The program also includes a selection of tunes from the Broadway musical “Kismet” which was based on the music of the Russian composer A. Borodin. A new collection of spirituals, an old warhorse entitled “The Light Cavalry Overture”, and others will round out the program.
The Winona Brass Band has been in existence for nearly 20 years and is comprised of brass players from the Winona area, La Crosse, La Crescent, Caledonia, Rochester and Decorah, IA.
