Kostner, Gary L. (11/25/2012)

Gary L. Kostner, age 59, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis., following a battle with cancer.

Gary was born on May 27, 1953, in Winona, to Carlton “Babe” and Bernice (Grulkowski) Kostner. He married Kim Haefner, and they later divorced.

He was employed with Madison Silo, Archer Daniels, and worked for 29 years at Watkins.

Gary was a member of the Athletic Club, and in his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and tending his vegetable garden. He loved everything about football, and was a huge Green Bay Packers fan - one of his favorite trips was his visit to Lambeau Field. Most of all, Gary enjoyed time with his family and friends, and he was especially proud of being a grandpa.

Gary is survived by his son, Travis (Amy) Kostner, Winona; grandson, Berklee Kostner; mother, Bernice Kostner, Winona; sisters: Sherry (Dave) Duffy, Winona; and Debbie (Bill) Dulek, Winona; brother, Randy Kostner, Winona; nieces: Stacy (Nathan) Carlsrud; Jennifer Duffy; and Casey (Wayne) Eaton; his beloved dog, Koz; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Bob; and an infant sister, Nancy.

A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Gary’s family will greet relatives and friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the funeral home.

Online condolences or memories may be left for Gary’s family at www.watkowski-mulyck.com.

Entrusted to our care – Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.
