Robert V. Kulas, age 81, formerly of Dodge, Wis., and Trempealeau, Wis., died on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Lakeview Health Center in West Salem, Wis.
Robert was born on August 4, 1931, in Dodge, Wis., to Vincent and Agnes (Stampka) Kulas. On October 18, 1958, he was united in marriage with Judy Mueller at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, Wis.
He honorably served his country with the United States Army. Robert farmed in Dodge for many years. He also worked for Warner and Swazey in Winona, the Friday Canning Company, and the Galesville Co-op. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, the Dodge Fire Department and the Dodge Sportsmen’s Club. Robert loved fishing, hunting, and he enjoyed snowplowing and grading for the Town of Dodge.
Robert is survived by his wife, Judy Kulas, Onalaska, Wis.; children, Aaron (Carla Peterson) Kulas, Thorn Bay, Alaska, Roxanne (Steve) Jelen, Independence, Wis., and Jennifer (Todd) Koch, La Crosse, Wis.; grandchildren, Erica Jelen, Mike Jelen, Jessica Jelen, Hannah Gibbons and Taylor Koch; brother, Albert (Jean) Stampka, Winona, Minn.; sister, Delphine Prondzinski, North Dakota; sister-in-law, Joyce (late Wayne) Mueller, Winona, Minn., as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Agnes; sister, JoAnn (Neal) Floyd; and uncle, Leo Kulas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church – Pine Creek, Wis. Father Raj and Father William Kulas will concelebrate.
Robert will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Pine Creek, where the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neville-Lien Post 1287 of Winona will provide full military honors.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, on Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, on Friday, November 30, 2012, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Ken Stampka, Gary Stampka, Steve Stampka, Dale Stampka, Rick Glaunert, and Bill Meyer.
Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pine Creek.
