My latest short story about the removal of Native Americans from their indigenous homes is available at https:createspace.com/4039311. and at Amazon. Removal relates the fate of a village on the southern Oregon coast, as experienced by a young boy, a headman’s son.
The United States removed coastal Oregon tribes about 1855—about seven years after the Ho Chunk and two years after the Mdewakanton were removed from La Crosse, Winona, and other nearby places. At Amazon, you must search for “Poydras Review, Issue 2” to find the fiction anthology that contains the story.
www.RichieSwanson.com offers five other fictions related to the displacement of Native Americans from the Oregon coast: Rinehart’s Beach, The Howls Behind the Waves, Salvaging, The Sting of Otter Jack, and Creator Bird. The Reckoning of Injun Joe and Princess Wenonah and The One Above the Bottoms occur during Indian removal on the upper Mississippi River.
