McCormick, Marlene J.
Marlene J. McCormick, age 75, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Lake Winona Manor.
Marlene was born on October 12, 1937, in Winona, to Randell and Henrietta (Feltz) Hock. She was united in marriage with Donald W. McCormick on July 7, 1960, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2008.
She began her career at Schuler Chocolates in Winona, and later worked for Mitch Bublitz assembling buttons. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
Following her father’s death in 1985, Marlene and Don moved to Sand Prairie near Wabasha; they returned to live in Minnesota City in 2004.
Together with her husband, Don, Marlene enjoyed fishing, feeding the ducks, and eating out. She also liked baking, making chocolate candies, gardening, watching her soap operas—the Young and the Restless being her favorite—hanging her clothes out to dry, and even though she never had a driver’s license, she enjoyed riding her bicycle around town. Most of all, Marlene was very family-oriented, and loved being a homemaker, mom, and especially her role as grandma.
Marlene is lovingly survived by her children: Jim McCormick, Minnesota City, Minn., Cheryl McCormick, Wabasha, Minn., and Karen McCormick, Minnesota City, Minn., grandchildren: Zakary Douglas, Alivia Douglas, and Rylee Douglas, all of Minnesota City, Minn., sister, Nancy Bauer, Winona; nephews Dave and Mike Bauer, Winona; niece, Debra Bauer-Brooks, Tampa, Florida; cousin, Denny Mikesell, Eleva, Wis.; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Kenneth Hock in 1952.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. The Reverend Monsignor Richard M. Colletti will officiate.
Marlene will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will be held at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart on Saturday, December 8, 2012, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
Pallbearers will be Dave Bauer, Mike Bauer, Denny Mikesell, Zak Douglas, and Dan Douglas.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be considered.
