Habitat for Humanity Winona – Fillmore Counties invites you to attend a community celebration to welcome the Yang family to their new home on Wednesday, December 12th at 190 Edward Street in Winona. A housewarming celebration and special home dedication will begin at 12:00 p.m.
The home was sponsored by Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines as part of their five-year, five state homebuilding initiative. The program will build one home in the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota and South Dakota and, by the end of 2017, five families will have a safe place to live.
The housewarming celebration and dedication is open for anyone to attend. “We encourage everyone to come out and meet the Yang family, especially volunteers and donors who have helped to make this home a reality,” said Nancy Iglesias, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Winona – Fillmore Counties. “This home could not have been built without the generous support of Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and the Winona community.”
The Yang family, who have collectively put in over 400 hours of “sweat equity” to help complete their home, will purchase the house from Habitat for a 30-year zero percent interest mortgage. While closing paperwork will be completed later in December, the Yangs will sign their “symbolic mortgage” at the dedication ceremony.
