From: The family of officer John J. Schneider
As the holidays approach, we would like to ask all who are inclined to place a blue light in a window in your home, as a remembrance for fallen law enforcement officers. This tradition was begun in 1986 and has become known nationally as Project Blue Light. It is a way for everyone to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our safety. There are now over 30,000 survivors of America’s fallen. At this time of year, ornamental light fixtures, such as candlestick replicas, are easy to come by and serve this purpose well. Please join our family and let your blue lights shine for law enforcment during the holidays. Also, remember the color blue is a symbol of peace. When you put up your blue lights, you’ll be sending a dual message to everyone driving by that you support America’s peacekeepers, and that you hope the coming year will be a time of peace. Merry Christmas everyone!
