Congratulations Congressman Walz, Senator Franken, and Senator Klobuchar. Once again as our elected Federal representation you three and the rest of both houses have demonstrated your inability to govern responsibly. Having succeeded in getting blood from a turnip, no small issue in itself, it would seem that has now morphed to bloodlust. I have yet to hear anything, not a peep, on the fate of that money and how you three and your colleagues will adjust our governmental expenses to get them in line with our income. If you think it wise to wait until the next Congress, I would counsel against it. Congress may have a low job rating as a group, but individually each of those re-elected representatives and each new senator will take being elected as a personal mandate and the collective irresponsibility will be destined to continue.
One can hope by the time this is in the paper an agreement will have been reached. I figure not though, and there is a lot of history to support me. Your behavior reminds me of the movie ďKramer vs. Kramer.Ē Not only are you sleeping in separate rooms but you are tearing the house down to make your point the other is wrong. Guess what. Like it or not, the Democrats and Republicans are married, divorce is not an option, and itís my house being torn down. Cut it out and act like responsible adults. If you canít, perhaps Iíll run to replace one of you.
If the reader wants to know where I stand, I support the Simpson-Bowles (or Bowles-Simpson if you prefer) plan as entirely as it is humanly possible. Why? It adds up and neither side likes it. Want a copy? E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
