MSF STATE AND DISTRICT SOFTBALL TOURNAMENTS ALLOCATIONS

Letters have been sent to all managers of our adult softball teams regarding the procedure and number of allocations granted to Winona for the State and District Softball tournaments. Please read these letters carefully and follow the instructions completely. Be sure your tournament entry fees are in our office by the deadline specified in the letter-Thursday, July 8, 2004, 4:00 p.m. Checks or money orders must be made out to the "MSF"; we do not accept cash! If you did not receive a letter and your team is interested in going to the tournament, please call the Park Recreation Office at 457-8258. If you have any further questions, please give us a call.

ADULT SOFTBALL MANAGERS

If you are a manager of a softball team and have a change of address, phone number or if the name of the manager has changed, please make sure that you contact Kelli at the Park Recreation office, 457-8258.

ADULT SOFTBALL RULE OF THE WEEK-LOCAL RULE

"ASA" Re-Entry Rule: (Locally Women's and Men's Leagues Only)-Any players, may be substituted or replaced and re-enter once, providing player occupy the same batting positions whenever in the line up. Players may not re-enter a second time. The starting player and their substitute may not be in the line-up at the same time. Penalty: Illegal re-entry, considered an illegal player and shall be disqualified. Special Note: Co-Rec. only-unlimited substitutions-you may enter and leave the game as often as you like, however the batting order must always remain unchanged. (All substitutes must report to the umpire prior to entering the game, either defensively or offensively.)

4.8 SKATE PARK-NOW OPEN

Boards/Blades: M, W, F-1-9 p.m., T-1-5 p.m., TH-5-9 p.m., Sat.-1-9 p.m., Sun. 5-9 p.m.

Bikes: T-5-9 p.m., TH-1-5 p.m., Sun.-1-5 p.m.

2004 Season Memberships Rates: Single Residents: $50.00, Single Non-Residents: $75.00

Note: Daily admission fees must be paid at the Skate Park. (All Daily Pass cards and memberships must be purchased at the Park Recreation office at City Hall. No daily pass cards or memberships will be sold at the Skate Park. These daily passes and memberships make excellent gifts! Reminder: All first time users must have our waiver signed before entering the Skate Park. If you are not 18 years of age an adult or legal guardian must fill out the waiver form. The following list of equipment must be worn by all while inside the 4.8 Skate Park: helmet, knee/elbow pads, and footwear.

AQUATIC CENTER

Watch for the Pay the Temperature Days: July 21 & August 8. Also Dollar Days are June 26, July 22 & August 1.

WINONA PARK RECREATION JUNIOR TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Entries are now being taken for the 23rd Annual 18 & Under Junior Tennis Tournament sponsored by the Winona Park Recreation Department to be held on July 9, 10 & 11th if needed. The tournament is open to all area players ages 18 & under. All entries are due by 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30th at the Park Recreation Office in City Hall. The events include the following: Junior Boys Singles & Doubles (16-18), Junior Girls Singles & Doubles (16-18), Mixed Doubles (18 & Under), Boys 14-15 Singles & Doubles, Girls 14-15 Singles & Doubles, Boys 13 & Under Singles & Doubles, Girls 13 & Under Singles & Doubles, Boys & Girls 10 & Under Singles & Doubles ( Full Court), Boys & Girls 10 & Under Singles (Mini Tennis-Regular Balls), & Boys & Girls 10 & Under Singles (Mini Tennis-Nerf Balls).

The entry fee for each event is $10.00 per person per event plus one can of unopened Penn or Wilson Extra Duty Championship tennis balls for each event. The tournament format is single elimination, No-Ad scoring, 2 out of 3 sets for all full court play and one 6 game set for Half Court-Mini Tennis play. Entry blanks may be picked up for the Park Rec. Office in City Hall between 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday or from any of the Park Recreation Tennis Instructors. Entry fees must accompany your entries. Draws will be posted at the Lake Park Courts from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, Wednesday, July 7th & Thursday, July 8th. Each player is responsible for checking match times and match sites.

PARK RECREATION PROGRAM REGISTRATION

Registration deadline for all programs is 5 working days prior to the start date of each specific program.

ADULT KICKBALL LEAGUE

Co. Rec. Kickball League registration started July 1 through July 30, 2004. Registration fee is $100, registration form and full fee needs to be turned in by deadline to get your team in. Games will be played Sunday late afternoon/evening. Call the Park Rec. Office for further information, 457-8258.

ADULT CO. REC. VOLLEYBALL

Co. Rec. Volleyball season approaching. Registration starts July 1 through July 30, 2004. All 2003 managers will be sent the information, if you are no longer serving as a team manager, pass the packet on to the appropriate individual. Registration fee is $260 per team; registration form and full payment are needed to register. For further information contact the Park Rec. Office at 457-8258.

PARK RECREATION BUS TRIPS

Valley Fair Trip: Friday, July 9 from 8-9 p.m., All ages (6 & under with an adult). There is something here for everyone. A water park, rollercoasters, plus entertainment and games. Fees: $45 resident, $55 non-resident. Noah's Ark/Wisconsin Dells Trip: Friday, July 23 from 8-7 p.m. All ages (6 & under with an adult). Jump on the bust to America's Largest waterpark. Fees: $43 resident, $53 non-resident. Children's Theatre-Old Log Theater-Mark Twain's Rollicking Adventure Story Trip: All ages (6 & under with an adult.) This winning adventure tale is a great way to introduce youngsters of all ages to the magic and fun of live theater. Fees: $38 resident, $48 non-resident. Register for any of these bus trips at the Park Recreation office. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30-4 p.m. Register by the deadline, 5 days prior to the start the program.

EZ ACTIVITY CAMPS

EZ Activity Camp provides age-appropriate activities designed to enhance the participant's social and recreational experiences. Activities include: games, theme-based activities, and the opportunity to make lots of new friends. Energized leaders will entertain the participants through the week long program. Weeks open are July 12-16th, Topic: Introduction to Organized Sports and Group Games; July 19-23, Topic: Languages and Local Culture; July 26-30th, Topic: Creatures that live in your neighborhood. Camps run from 12-4 p.m., fees are $25 resident and $35 non-resident. Register at the Park Rec. Office. Office hours are Monday though Friday from 7:30-4 p.m.

GUARD START

A junior lifeguard program for future lifeguards. This program will enhance their aquatic skills and help make the Lifeguard Certification course a ‘day at the beach'. Ages 13-15, Monday through Friday, 7:30-8:10 p.m. Fridays will be used as a make-up day. Dates are July 5-July 15, Cost is $40 resident, $50 non-resident. Register at the Park Rec. Office. Office hours are Monday though Friday from 7:30-4 p.m.

JUNIOR WSI

This class will build a strong foundation for future lifeguards interested in teaching swimming lessons. For Ages 13-15, Monday through Friday, 7:30-8:10 p.m. Fridays will be used as a make-up day. Sessions One runs from July 19 - July 29 or Session Two runs from August 2 - August 12 p.m. Cost is $40 resident and $50 non-resident. Register at the Park Rec. Office. Office hours are Monday though Friday from 7:30-4 p.m.

Lost and found box at the Park Rec. office, City Hall. Please stop in to identify the items.

CITY HALL OFFICE HOURS

7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are closed on Saturday and Sundays.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES AT THE REC. CENTERS

Congratulations to our 3 on 3 Basketball winners: 16 & up-The Jets; Matt McCabe, Douglas Benzer and Keil Jenkin and for the 11-15 age group; The All Stars; Patrick Walker, Breanna Marks, and Shane Henderson.

DANCE CLINIC AT THE EAST REC CENTER July 6

Grab your dancing shoes and come to the East Recreation Center on July 6th from 7-8 p.m. Crystal will be getting jiggy and invites you to join her.
