The Winona City Council will vote to adopt the 2013 budget and property tax levy Monday, which will increase property taxes by 1.2 percent.
The city is proposing a budget of $38 million that includes funds for street reconstruction and city equipment. The 1.2 percent increase is attributed mainly to Port Authority projects.
Winona City Manager Judy Bodway said at the presentation of the budget earlier this month that "the major reasons for the increase in the budget are the debt service for the bike path project and the bonds coming due for the airport improvements."
The city's portion of the increase is nearly $78,000, while the Port Authority's portion is nearly $130,000.
The Winona City Council meeting will be Monday, December 17, at 6:30 p.m.
