Restorative Justice to hold golf tourney (07/04/2004)
On Friday, August 20, 2004, the Winona County Restorative Justice Program's Annual Kids Fund Golf Tournament will be held at Cedar Valley Golf Course. The tournament will feature a four-person scramble with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start. The $60 per person entry fee will provide golfers with a fun afternoon of 18 holes of golf, cart, New York Strip dinner, golf towel, "goodie bag," and a chance to win quality door prizes. There will be a $5,000 hole-in-one contest along with prizes for lowest team score, longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt, and much more. A miniature golf game will also be taking place prior to the 1:00 shotgun start to get your game off to the right start.

The Restorative Justice Program is a community-oriented organization that utilize community volunteers to provide alternative programming for youth and victims who are currently involved with the juvenile justice system. With the funds raised from the annual golf tournament, the Restorative Justice Program will be able to continue to:

" provide fun, positive, and educational activities for mentors and youth

" provide positive reinforcement to youth who successfully finish with the program

" help youth understand how their behavior affects others

" bring positive skills and learning experiences to youth

" raise the attitudes, knowledge, and self-esteem of youth

" help victims and the community heal after being a victim of crime
