History Day workshop (12/30/2012)
National History Day is an inter-disciplinary research project for students in grades 6-12. History Day teaches students to: conduct in-depth research; use primary and secondary sources; read a variety of texts; analyze and synthesize information; and write and present historical content. Students choose a topic that relates to an annual theme, research that topic, and develop their research into one of five presentation categories: research paper, exhibit, documentary, performance, or website. Students may then enter their projects into History Day competitions. History Day and a tour of the WCHS archives for area educators and other interested adults will be at the Winona County History Center on January 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. If you work with or have a 6 - 12th grader and are interested in learning about how you can help them participate in History Day, you can register by emailing mstanford@selco.info or calling 507-454-2723 ext. 3. Refreshments will be served. CEU certificates will be available. Learn more at www.winonahistory.org or call 507-454-2723 ext. 3.
