In the December 23, 2012 issue of the Winona Post, an article was published on upgrades to the Winona County Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), the facility that receives 911 calls and dispatches emergency responders. The article reported that the upgrades were completed and callers would now be able to use their smart phones to send text messages and photos to 911 operators. However, this information was inaccurate. The multi-phase upgrades are still in the first stage and, for now, residents needing 911 assistance must continue to place a traditional voice phone call. When the upgrade to the new system is completed, the Post will report on it and explain to readers how to use the new system. The Winona Post regrets the error.
