Edward J. “Bud” Loshek, age 91, of Winona, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013, at his home.
Ed was born on April 4, 1921, in Winona, to Joseph and Sophia (Budnick) Loshek. He was united in marriage with Evelyn M. Schultz on September 25, 1946, in Winona.
He honorably served his country with the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 in Winona. He was also a member of the Eagle’s Club.
Ed was the longtime owner and bartender of Sloppy Joe’s Bar in Winona.
He will be remembered for his love of fishing, and in his younger years, Ed enjoyed duck hunting. His family was always first, and he was an especially loving and devoted caregiver to Evelyn.
Ed is lovingly survived by his wife, Evelyn, Winona; children: Kathleen Ann (James) Strain, Winona; Charles Edward Loshek, Winona; grandchildren: Lonnie Brown, Winona; Scott Brown, Winona; Angie (Shane) Loshek-Fossan, Woodbury, Minn.; Pam (Patrick) Galvin, Eagan, Minn.; Andrea Brown, Winona; great-grandchildren: Evan, Tanner, Ellie, Abby, Trevor, and Jack; sister: Rosemary Starzecki, Winona; nieces: Debbie Brokaw and Diana Huwald; nephew: Joe Loshek; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Richard Loshek and Joseph Loshek; and a nephew: Steve Loshek.
In honor of Ed’s wishes, a private family service will be held, with the Reverend Paul J. Breza officiating.
Ed will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 Burial Detail.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Brown, Scott Brown, Shane Fossan, Shane Loshek, Patrick Galvin, and Joe Loshek.
