From: Jim Eddy
Coordinator, Toys for Tots Drive, Hiawatha Valley
The Hiawatha Valley Marines wishes to express our appreciation to the Winona community for their excellent support of our 2012 Toys for Tots Drive. This Drive provided 1,060 kids with toys. In addition our effort resulted in assisting 360 families in assuring their children could enjoy a special toy for Christmas.
We wish to thank all the businesses for their sustained support of our annual Toys for Tots Drive, and the following churches: St. Stan’s, St. John’s, St. Martin’s, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, St. Casimir’s, St. Paul’s and Pleasant Valley Church.
In addition, we are most appreciative of the many citizens who provided financial support to our effort. Their involvement underscores the commitment of Winona’s citizens to community focused endeavors.
A special thank you to Mr. Jim Frankard for the 450 handmade toys. They received special attention from those coming to the Christmas Toy Store.
Our effort was ably supported by the Winona Community Foundation’s administration of the Hiawatha Valley Marines financial affairs. In addition Winona Volunteer Services provided our effort with assistance. Finally, the Hiawatha Valley Marines 2012 Toys for Tots Drive was most fortunate to have once again the active involvement of many volunteers managing the distribution of toys at the Christmas Toy Store located in the Tandeski Center on the campus of the Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical.
