January 9

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, at the Ag Service Center, 400 Wilson Street, Lewiston.

January 10

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, January 10, at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona.  Our presentation by Dr. Gregory Schmidt of Winona State University is entitled “States Rights, Slavery, and Secession.”  All are invited and refreshments will be served.

The Whitewater Joint Powers Board will meet on Thursday, January 10, at 8:30 a.m. at the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Highway 74, Altura.

January 13

The Rollingstone Luxembourg Heritage Museum  and the Society will meet on Sunday, January 13, at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center in the Rollingstone Park. Refreshments will be served. The main item on the agenda will be discussion of the 25th Annual  Treipenfest to be held on Monday,  January 28, at Ginnys Supper Club. January 14

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will meet on January 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church. Rosary will be said with the business meeting following. Please bring your items for the raffle.

The monthly board meeting of the Stockton, Rollingstone, Minnesota City Watershed District will be held on January 14, at 7 p.m. at the Stockton Community Center, 8600 D Str. Stockton.

The Ruskin Study Club will meet Monday, January 14, at The Winona County Historical Center. Kathie Peterson will be the hostess. Mary Wieczorek will co-host. Jeanine Black will present her paper.

The Chautauqua Club will meet on Monday, January 14, at the home of Donna Peterson. Pat Malotka will co-hostess the meeting and the program will be presented by Enda Fitzmaurice.  If members are unable to attend the meeting, please contact Donna prior to Sunday, January 13.

January 16

Harvest House, a nonprofit, non-denominational organization for 50 and getting better, will  hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, January 16, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus hall.  Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting.  Our guest speaker will be Chief Paul Bostrack to give an update on crime in Winona.  Bring a nonperishable food item for a needy family.  Lunch will be served.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church).

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.

Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences.  A family support group meets in Winona at 7:00 p.m., on the second Monday of the month, at Winona Health, 855 Mankato Avenue, in the Parkview conference room. Widowed Meet and Eat meets at 11 a. m. every Monday in January at Culvers. Please call 452-1555 for information.

The Widowed Persons Social Group (Jan.) meets for breakfast every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Country Kitchen. Dinners every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Country Kitchen. For information call Gen at 507-452-8334, or 507-458-4258 at least by 9 p.m. the night before the event.

 Do you have a loved one living with a mental illness?  If so, we provide a place for you that offers information, respect, understanding, encouragement and hope.  Meetings are the second Monday of the month from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Winona Health – Parkview Conference Room. No fee just walk in and join us.  Enter the hospital’s main door, turn right, at the hallway take another right.  It’s the second door on the left.  (Next to the snack room.) Caregiver Support Group for Adults Age 55 & Better Group provides an opportunity to meet with other caregivers to exchange helpful tips, give and receive support, as well as learn about new resources. The group meets the 1st Wednesday of each month from 2-3 p.m. at the Elder Network office, 1756 Kraemer Drive, Suite 110, Winona.  Contact Renee Kreter at 452-0580 for more information.

Stepping Up is a support group for friends and relatives who again find themselves in the role of parent. The group meets twice a month to discuss a variety of topics such as: child-rearing within the context of current lifestyles, social media, socializing with peers, responsibility and authority roles. Please join us for support and discussion. When: 1st & 3rd Mondays of the month 6:00 - 7:30 pm, Central Building Room 114 (317 Market Street) Please use Northwest entrance, off the playground. Discussions will be facilitated by Jen Whetstone, LICSW Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center, Angela McQuinn, LSW Winona Area Public Schools. In the event of school closing/cancellations, group will also be canceled.

Starting the week of November 12, Peer Support Network (PSN) will be open 7 days per week. The new hours will be: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m-2 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. PSN is located at 122 West Second St. in Winona.

Divorce care series. A new 13 week session of DivorceCare support group will begin Thursday, January 3, at 7 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church, 259 W. Wabasha St., Winona. DivorceCare is a weekly video seminar series and support group for people who are separated or divorced. Videos are combined with support group discussion of the materials presented each evening. DivorceCare meets the first and third Thursday of the month from 7:00-9:00. p.m. Anyone may join this group at any time. All are welcome!!
